Alli Simon
Alli Simon (She/Her) is a meditation, yoga, and community care facilitator based in South Los Angeles. She is the Executive Director of Black Being, a non-profit well-being studio in Inglewood, California, with a mission to encourage physical, mental, and emotional well-being through movement and mindfulness programs.
Since 2009, meditation has been a guiding force, supporting Alli through personal challenges and times of loss. After years of self-study and solo practice, in 2014, amidst profound grief, she made the decision to attend yoga teacher training, deepening her commitment to well-being. That same year marked her first meditation retreat with S.N. Goenka, and from that point on, Vipassana became her sanctuary.
Initially a personal journey of healing, Alli's meditation and yoga practice quickly expanded beyond self-benefit. She began receiving invitations to share her practice and serve her community in various ways while staying dedicated to broadening access to meditation and movement for Black and Indigenous People of Color, LGBTQ folx, and others who have been historically marginalized.
She envisions a world where more care, connection, and love can always be present.
As a formally trained yoga and mindfulness meditation facilitator, Alli’s impact extends beyond the cushion and mat. She also facilitates classes and workshops for community-based organizations such as Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, REDF, and Social Justice Partners Los Angeles, inviting care and support for homeless services providers and social impact leaders dedicated to systems change, racial justice, and healing justice.
Her practice, writings, and meditations have been featured in projects with local, national, and global brands such as Yoga and Body Image Coalition, The L.A. Times, Athleta, adidas, Yoga International, and more.
When time permits, Alli enjoys taking trips to Big Bear where she is a retreat manager at Big Bear Retreat Center. She loves traveling and spending quality time with her family and sweet rescue dog, Squirrel.
